JOGGER & LOGGER SWAP

We have officially kicked off our spring semester and have had a BLAST so far! All of our girls work so hard and we loved being able to take a break and have a ball with all of our best friends!

Sisters Mary Liz, Sara, Karen, and Frances smile for a quick photo while signing everyone into the swap!

Everyone had a blast dancing the night away at our first swap of 2014!

We have amazing plans for this new year and cannot wait to share every step of the way with you! Thank you for visiting our new and improved blog; come back often for updates and to see what we are up to!

BEAUTIFUL FEET

Over Christmas break, a number of our members traveled to Texas to help an organization called "Beautiful Feet Ministry." Our sister, Rachel Myers, has been helping with Beautiful Feet for years and wanted to give a few of our members the opportunity to see God's work through the organization. We asked her to write about her time at Beautiful Feet and here is what she had to say...

"The week at Beautiful Feet with the KD’s was amazing. I devoted the week before to praying over the week, the girls coming and the church. I wanted them to come with servant hearts and have special encounters with some of the people at Beautiful Feet. But I was reminded that week of the verse that promises us that God will do immeasurably more for His people. Ephesians 3:20 says "Now to him that is able to do immeasurably above all that we ask or think, according to his power that is in work within us."

"More than we could ever imagine or plan on our own. Things happened that week that could not have happened without God’s hands. The girls that came touched so many people and so many lives; It was amazing. I witnessed four people completely turn their lives around for Jesus just because of the love, care, and servant hearted attitude the Kappa Deltas showed that week. ONe woman was on the verge of suicide when the KDs arrived at Beautiful Feet. Because of her difficult past, she was physically, mentally, and emotionally broken. When she saw the love and care the KDs showed to her though, it changed her life. That week we all witnessed her freeing herself from prostitution, drugs, alcohol, and even smoking. Even after the girls left, she said, “those sorority girls from Mississippi changed my life, and I will never be the same.”That is powerful. We as Kappa Deltas strive to enhance confidence in women; I had the privilege of witnessing the confidence Kappa Deltas encouraged change the life of a desperate woman in need. Three other men were also touched dramatically by these girls. All three of them gave up drugs and I am proud to say they are still clean to this day. They all have major addictions, baggage, and family problems, but JESUS rocked their world through the girls that were there that week! We were able to witness one of the men be blessed with an apartment and get off of the streets!

" We were able to be the accountability partners for these men. The girls that traveled to Texas are completely unaware about how much they blessed these people! One of the men told me after the girls had left “I know now that myth and other drugs can no longer be apart of my life because every time I consider picking up that needle again I think of those girls and how disappointed they would be." Two of those men are getting into our “Restoration Program” for men trying to get off of the streets and do good while serving Jesus. Then Friday night came, and these girls literally helped nearly 300 families receive Christmas just by helping with all the background work. We had the privilege of delivering to the families we adopted. But the presents were not what made it such a beautiful experience. It was the light of Jesus Christ that the KDs brought into these people’s homes that night. We prayed for them, their families, and over the household. We listened to prayer requests and the vulnerable hearts of these precious people in need. That's powerful. I saw Jesus Christ through these girls and it honestly impacted my life as well as the homeless of Beautiful Feet."

"They did exactly what Matthew 25:35 says:

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

The girls that week became the hands and feet of Jesus and did it in a way of confidence, integrity, and love. I could not have picked a better group of girls to go and invest in others. The homeless asked me countless times when they will get to come back. I have full faith that God will lead even more girls to Beautiful Feet and bless them as much as they will bless others. I’m excited to say that Mississippi State Kappa Delta is already on the Beautiful Feet calendar!"
