CHRISTMAS IS IN THE AIR

Tis the season to be a KayDee!
fa-la-la-la-la la-la-la-la!

Delta Omega loves the holidays and everything that comes with them! From lights on our house to our tacky Christmas swap, we just can't get enough!

And even though the semester is coming to a close and we will be apart from our sisters for a few weeks..

We celebrate the end of the semester and look forward to coming back and sharing all of funny family Christmas stories when we return!

 Happy Holidays!
Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

WHY WE'RE HERE

Hooray!

Delta Omega is so humbled and happy to announce that another Shamrock Week has gone off without a hitch! We had hundreds of people come out to our philanthropy event, Late Night Pancake, and everyone had a BLAST!

We would like to thank all of the families, alumnae, friends, and students that came out and helped make this event such a huge success. We are honored to be able to raise money for such a deserving cause as Prevent Child Abuse America!

In addition to our Late Night Pancake event, we also sold hot chocolate on the drill field to raise money for PCAA!

We love having the opportunity to make a positive impact in children's lives and build one another up. It is WHY WE ARE HERE. Thank you again for all of the support throughout our philanthropy week and the semester.

Shamrock Week 2013

Because Shamrock week is such an important time for Kappa Delta, it deserves its' own post. Every year we work hard to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America and the Sally Kate Winter's home. Through all of the support from our friends, family, and alumnae, we as a chapter succeed in supporting our philanthropy.

We kicked off the week by selling pinwheels and cookies on the drill field. The pinwheels represent the fact that everyone deserves to have an enjoyable childhood, and that is something that should never be taken away.

Following selling pinwheels and cookies on the drill field, we held an Easter egg hunt in the Junction. The Easter egg hunt began with a tournament between sororities and fraternities. After some friendly and fun competition, we opened the hunt up to local children who brought their Easter baskets and collected as many eggs as they could carry.

We ended Shamrock Week with Kappa Delta Pancake Late Night. All of the proceeds from this event go to Prevent Child Abuse America and the Sally Kate Winter's home in West Point, Mississippi. March was a long and tiring month for Kappa Delta, but we loved every minute of it. Every time we go visit the children at the Sally Kate Winter's home, we get to see and feel the work we are doing. That in itself keeps us going with the efforts to raise money for this wonderful charity. Shamrock Week may be over, but we never stop trying to better the lives of those who surround us.

Go Confidently, Go KD.

March 2013

Though March was a busy month we had a great time at the two swaps we had!
Tacky Tourist swap @ Rick's cafe

Mathletes and Athletes swap @ Rick's cafe

Aside from the swaps....

We sold Girl Scout cookies on the Drill Field

For our final Girl Scout event of the year, we took some of the troops on a tour of MSU's campus and then acted out some "bully doesn't bully" skits for them in the chapter room.

February 2013

Biker Swap with Kappa Sigma at Zorbas

Decades Date Party with Delta Gamma

February flew by and we cannot believe it is already time to take our midterms. As a reward for getting 2nd on the row in grades last semester and motivation to fight for 1st place this semester, we had a chapter movie night at the movie theater here in Starkville. We had a whole theater to ourselves and enjoyed popcorn and a drink as we watched Safe Haven. It was all free, and it was well deserved for all of the hard work we put in to make good grades. February was also a successful month for several Kappa Deltas who took the initiative to get involved on campus and try out for Roadrunners. Congratulations to Francis Carter and Ashton Braddock for making it! Now we are looking ahead and preparing as a chapter for Shamrock Week in March, which we are confident will be a great success.

Go confidently, go KD.

SNOW DAY! Pictured are several KD sisters having a snowball fight in front of the house. This was a rare occasion for Starkville, Mississippi!

(from left) Morgan Lewellen, Sarah Daws, and Esha Rock looked beautiful and had a great time modeling wedding dresses for WCBI's Bridal Showcase.

January was a relatively calm month for the Kappa Deltas as we settled back into school after Christmas break. However, just because it was a calm month does not mean we stopped working hard. Our intramural soccer team went undefeated, we studied diligently to get through the first tests of the semester, and we have already started planning for Shamrock Week in March. Our chapter has an exciting and busy schedule in store for this Spring semester, so remember to check back with us at the end of February to see what we are up to!

Kappa Delta's Fall 2012 Semester in Review

Kappa Delta's 2012-2013 Freshmen Pledge Class

A few of the KD's walk back to the sorority house after winning 2nd place in Lambda Chi's Watermelon Festival. Anna Barker, a freshman KD, was chosen as Watermelon Queen.

  Caty Steele Wins Homecoming Queen!

Kappa Delta's Pancake Late Night Event is our philanthropy event that serves Prevent Child Abuse America. We raised $49,996 for PCAA this past year. 80% of the money we raised went to the Sally Kate Winters home, for which we are the primary source of funding. The remaining 20% went to PCAA as a national organization.

From getting our new pledge class in August to council transitions in November, it was a very busy semester! We had some sisters join national honor societies, serve MSU on the pom squad and cheer leading teams, receive positions on Student Association through Freshman Forum and Council, one become an Orientation Leader, and many others achieve various prestigious leadership positions in the Mississippi State University community.
On top of the work we did to raise money for PCAA; Kappa Delta hosted events for the Girl Scouts that included a skating party and a spa day, and also passed out confidence balloons to women on campus all in October and November. KD also helped to raise money for other sororities and fraternities philanthropies by participating in their various competitions such as Chi Omega's Limelight and Zeta Tau Alpha's Stepshow.
We also just recently found out that we maintained 2nd place on the row in the highest grade point average as a chapter!
Though we do work very hard, we also find time to have our fun. We had date parties, football games, swaps, semi-formal, family Christmas, and plenty more events to keep us busy throughout the semester.

Keep up with our chapter this Spring 2013 semester by checking this blog at the end of every month for updates on the great things we are accomplishing.
And as always....Go Confidently, Go KD.
